What a world it could become.....

Postby EFFalcon » July 4th, 2008, 1:55 pm

stumbled accross this forum earlier today
http://www.ecomodder.com basically a club for more 'economical' cars, hybrids etc.

I do some other minor stuff like a warm air intake to help keep the Insight in lean burn as well as block the radiator in cold weather.

Another aesthetic modification I made is to add an Mobile LED MD-550 scrolling LED sign in the rear hatch window. (The company is no longer in business.) I put up fun things like "Now Getting 85 MPG", to share with other drivers around me.

Is there a simple way to fool my ECU into reducing the amount of fuel it tells the injectors to pass? Sort of a flip of the switch 'lean burn' mode?

what TYPE of tire is the most fuel efficient?

Universal Flat wheel Covers

yay! i hit 30mpg!

ooh... and their sigs
Image

and finally, a few tips to "HYPERMILING"
17) Avoid drive-thrus
24) Drive when it's warm out
28) Minimize idling when stopped

If you're going to be stopped for more than a few seconds, shift to neutral and shut off your engine. This is one of the main reasons hybrid vehicles get such good fuel economy in urban driving.
33) Lights on for safety; lights off for MPG
47) Drive shoeless

Some hardcore hypermilers drive in sock or bare feet so they can modulate the accelerator to the finest degree (particularly important when "driving with load" / "target MPG driving" at cruise.
70) Automatic transmission: key off, then Park

Save a few drops of fuel by modifying your shutdown procedure: when parking, turn off the key *before* shifting to Park and setting the parking brake.
105) Listen to slower music

ah... one day we'll all be like this

Hopefully I'll be long gone by then. I'll always want a v8. :D Even if I have to do a conversion for it to run on fish and chip oil, cause fuel will be $5.00/ltr. Stuff it!

Everyone other than car enthusiasts should drive a hybrid. There should be a Government rebate on them or something.

Umm ok, now Im worried. UPDATE: Someone has designed a car to run off cow methane...

http://www.hybridcars.com/news2/cow-power-hybrid.html

Runs off cow manure, not straight from the cow itself.. now why didnt I think of that? They forgot to mention that this car smells like cow ****.

Oh boy! That forums is fully sick.

My air-con doesn't work so I never turn it on... does that mean that I'm an environmentalist? I should sign up there I think.

Lol I discussed this kinda shiz with someone a while ago.

Instead of going for 12 seconds in a E-Series, go for 12 litres.

wow, what a find. I'm wanting to trade in my mustang for an insight here in the next year or so, and I'm having a hard time tracking one down in my area. Guess there's not too many eco-conscious people here in OK. Only hybrids I can seem to find are SUV'

I found this post pretty funny.

75mpg@57mph 88CRX HF 177Kmiles, K&N filter, 5-30 Valvoline Full Synthetic, Sumitomo HTR T4's on back @ 46psi, Old Roadhandler Voyagers on front @ 40psi, restrictor tube is missing on filter box, only 1 rearview mirror drivers side, antenna 1/2 up, stock, shiny paint, 220lb driver, i'm thinking maybe i should get it aligned, toss out the spare, get some new tires for the front, put a throttle stick on it and maybe 80mpg? Or will I have to lower the antenna?

Hardcore. He shoulda just bought a diesel.

I guess this sort of thing will become more common as petrol prices go up. It should be encouraged, more fuel for everyone else :D

These are the sort of coksmokers that try and merge on freeways at 40km/h slower then the freeway traffic, because they don't want to use full throttle going up the onramp.
I deadset spit on these kunts.
