Finally trimmed my console, still need to get rid of a couple of crinkles and fill in a couple of gaps but thats basically it, I;m pretty happy for my first trim job.

But unfortunately i reckon i'm gonna put my beast up for sale in the near future once i give it a detail and fix a couple of things like dash globes and wheel bearings.

That is MAD!!

Question, how much did it cost to put the new shifter in? And how much would i have to pay you to do the same for me? :D

I love the sports shift ;)

Nah, I'm sorry, I'm not a big fan of the false "on top" cover, needs to be integrated into the console with vinyl that stretches around under the bottom of the existing console frame if you're making a new whole console top IMHO.

Looks like you've spent a bit of time though on it :)

Fair enough, its not exactly how i planned it to be either but the stupid shape of the ef/el console and the room need for the handbrake makes it a very hard task, i just worked with what i had, and to be honest if i was to do it again i'd just try and fit up a BA console and try and keep the standard look. I think fitting up a ba console to suit would be much easier than modding a ef one to suit. Thanks for the input tho, what you had in your mind of what would look good is somewhat what i was trying to acheive, but the facts are i'm a desiel mechanic with not much time on my hands and not an auto trimmer.

Cheers rhys375,
For everything probably cost me $400 including the MDF and vinyl to make the surround and about 6 hours total doing it all, but i don't think i'll install one again as i just don't have the time any more. WORK SUCKS......

What I would've tried if I wanted a false top, would have been fastening the top frame to the console (remove the console obviously), then cut some vinyl covering to the shape of the console, cover the tops & sides of the console with adhesive material, fit the vinyl over the top tautly & attach to the underneath/inside of the console, place the BA PRND fascia in the false top (screwed in from underneath), and then fit the whole modified console back in place. The only "difficult" part I see in visualising integrating it is how the vinyl material matches in with the original dash plastic. Unless you want to do a Wilson and retrim the dash :P
