Woot rego done today.
Shifter is shit and maybe it does need a louder exhaust afterall.
Otherwise its good. Insurance is only $4 a month dearer than the ute and the DTE says 640km.
I dunno how the other GM shifters feel but the stock 6 speed shifter in my AU was a five hundred thousand times better. Can I fix it or do I need to replace it with those unfriendly super dooper sports shifters with no travel?

The stock shifters are awful in these

Shifter is starting to feel better. Maybe it just sat for too long.
My tailpipe fell off last week after some roundabout shenanigans so Mr TuffCarParts hooked me up with a twin 2.5 inch cat back exhaust for this thing.
Hopefully Ill get time to put it on this weekend. Should liven things up a bit.
Still trying to decide if its worth going OTR and forking out for a tune.
I've always been disappointed when I spend large chunks of cash on NA mods.

OTR & Tune... do it.
LS1's seem to be one of the only motors worth doing some N/A work on

Yes a mates VX SS made 232rwkw with just a MAFless tune and full exhaust, he started from about 179rwkw i think.

Ive heard driveability can be shit with mafless tunes?
and also heard the maf is no restriction for cars under 250ish rwkw?
id just get a tune as is my mates manaro made 232rwkw with just exhaust and tune with maf and airbox in it.
its auto aswell so may show more on urs.
cheers josh.

How is a maffless tune shit driveability? dunno where you heard that from thats absolute rubbish. Drives the same as stock with less fuel consumption much better power and just about everything else is improved. Tell me what aspect of a mafless tune is shit driveability?
Ive heard VE going alright with a maf tune but anything older dont even bother the factory intake you need to keep with the maff is no good.

I wouldn't say boogie lol, they go a bit better. The only reason I would get those mods is for the better fuel economy!

Nah his car drives great, just as SOMELS1 said, just like a stock car but heaps more power and his fuel econmy went from around 480 to 600!
Another reason why the LS motors have been so tempting in the past but the thought of owning another holden made me sad.
But is that the plan for this if it doesnt sell (tune + exhaust)?. Suprised it hasnt sold already actually. Good price.

God damn it, I knew I should have bought an LS1! One-eye’d Ford fan fail.

Swaps for Windsor? You know you want another AU XR!

It's not for sale at that price anymore. Rego was expensive. I'll keep it for a few years I reckon. Until I get bored anyway.

It was $1000 including stamp duty, booking fee and all that junk.
If I didnt have a commodore in the driveway the ute would have been fine so I dont think Ill swap anytime soon.
Gotten old/over it etc.

ive heard keep the maf unless you cam it, my mate has a ls1 in a s13 its a stock motor, with a fuel system and malpassi reg (cos the stock ls1 fuel reg is in the swirl pot or whatever)
and a maf tune, intake pipe with a pod hsv extractors and a twin 2.5" sytem made 240rwkw and made like 280rwkw with some fuel he was tellin me about super octane or something its dense as ****, unlike e85 instead of using 30% more u use like 50% less but its 2x the price so works out similar to pump 98...

Yeah, because it was $42k!! That was just a retarded brain fart. Serves me right for taking my mates hot girlfriend to the dealer with me, she was very convincing! I was actually looking at VX LS1’s before I bought the red baron, but they were either thrashed or the blokes wanted drug money for the good ones. They were all SS’s though, so that was where I went wrong.
Anyway, you seem to have lucked out with this one Dan. If you can get as good economy out of it with a tune as everyone recons, they you’d be silly not to. Just make it sound tough too.

My Holden went from approx 210 to 230 rwkw with OTR and mafless tune. Sounds a lot nicer at higher revs, still quiet in normal driving, a bit more power and otherwise identical to how it was before. No complaints.
I went through C&A Auto Fashion, Blackburn.

Thanks mate. Which OTR's do they use? They quoted me $1000 for an OTR and tune which isnt bad. Others wanted $1200 for a tune only. :/

Nah she's petrol and gas. Its how I roll.
I'm not planning on off roading like I used to do but it will be handy for getting out there. I used to drive to Little River to go shooting but now I can go bush which is closer.
Old maverick for reference.

I want to keep it legal so not that much lift. I think I can fit 35's with not much lift anyway. It's all pending funds which are short until Ifinish doing what I need to do on the house.
