Back in the day you would put a tape in and copy ya mates CD/Tape.
Now you have to pay to9 be only to get a copy.

Not much has changed. Except technology.

When I started to listen to Metallica I had 4 tapes I copied of a mate. I liked them so much O bought the originals.
If I hadn't listened to them, I wouldn't have liked them and bought their CD's.

Some funny comments in here boys!

If I hadn't been able to 'sample' music, then the artists I've seen and paid for live, bought their CDs, and merchandise would still be undiscovered and unknown to me. I've paid from $13-$135 to go to live gigs/concerts (nearly triple that for festivals) and spent from $3-40 on single CDs. Not to mention my friends who I share new discoveries with (and vice versa) who also do the same, granted one doesn't buy CDs/DVDs but regularly pays to go to gigs and buy merchandise from these artists. There's a shit load of music I listen to but can't find the CDs in shops. Same goes for movies; I have 100/200 original DVDs and at least that in original CDs.

And seriously, how much are artists getting when I buy their CDs for $9.99 at JB or $3 from eBay?

JJJ is the only station that seems to uncover new music and local talent; but even then it's just the tip of the ice berg.

And lol to 'mp3 sounding shit'. Of course 128kBit MP3s sound shit on your crappy computer speakers and running off a generic onboard soundcard or a car set up with standard Pioneer speakers and no soundstage. I guarantee most kents that say that couldn't tell the difference in listening to MP3s (192+kBit) on a decent PC with a quality soundcard and Sennheiser/RE2 earphones.

You're forgetting Gozza (the one who first said it) is a sound engineer. My hearing is not as good as it used to be, so I can't tell the difference between 320k and CD quality anymore, but 192 is noticeable to me, almost exclusively on the tweeter end of the spectrum. Burn your 192 to CD Lukethefag, then play it through whatever you like, preceded by the original CD and you'll hear it for sure :P

This album is awesome. For those that havent stolen it yet it definately wont dissapoint. I will probably buy it. Having said that, artists should make their money from touring and putting on a good show rather than selling cd's

I didn't forget; I never knew, Jaredthehairybuttonlicker. Most stereos normal home stereos aren't going to sound any different - burnt from 192/256/320 anyway. They don't have big **** off tubes and shit anymore. Dogs can hear the frequencies pretty acutely too. I don't think they give a fu(k though, much like monitors.

I see downloading music as fine because almost every band I like have either disbanded or died.

The others have the songs on their websites, or don't sell their CD's in Australia.
Daily: EB II Fairmont, legal low. Next stereo or turbo.

I'm buying Death Magnetic. Wasn't overly thrilled listening to it through my headphones on the way to work. Chucked it on in the EL tonight and fuk yeah! Sounds like there's a bit of range lacking so looking forward to the CD.

If you like Metallica then flame some of the fkn tards in there. Like I've already commented, people are gonna hate it because it'll either sound exactly like their old shit or nothing like it. You can't possibly expect it to sound the same as stuff recorded in the 80s FFS. If Ride the Lightening or Master of Puppets were recorded now I reckon it wouldn't sound too dissimilar to Death Magnetic given they'd be using better mike's, recording equipment and James can sing better now than what he could then. And calling it pop just because it's been well marketed and sold heaps is retarded. That would pretty much make every band that's ever done very well instantly put in the pop genre. I think there's a l-i-t-t-l-e bit of a difference between the pop music genre and music that has become popular over time
