Google map of fatal road accidents.

Postby Malakai » November 2nd, 2008, 8:04 am

Police have a made a Google map showing all fatal road accidents this year (cars, cyclists, motorcyclists & pedestriands all included). Shows location and details of accident (no names etc).

RIP 9/10/08 1:20am driver :( (workmate's son)

It's an interesting database but Vicroads has its own site with all of this information (although not quite in the Google Maps format), and has had such a database for years. It's called crashstats and is available to the public.

I noticed there seemed to be a pedestrian fatality on the Freeway-

At about 10 am a vehicle was travelling west on the Princes Freeway. The driver stopped in the emergency lane after a surfboard fell from the roof of the vehicle. An emergency vehicle stopped to help but reversed over the pedestrian causing fatal injuries.

LOL. That's what you get for not securing your load. Sucked in. That surfboard could have gone clean through someones windscreen and killed multiple people.

No sympathy.

More funny that the emergency services did it - they're supposed to be "trained professional drivers' who can 'speed safely'.

Fcukers can't even manage to go backwards.

I was telling my mrs about this and she actually works at the same place as the poor bastards sister. He was from europe and presumably wasn't all that familiar with australian roads. Was out in australia to get married :(

But yeah. Not securing your load ftl. The other day on the same bit of road I saw an aluminium ladder come off this guys roof. Needless to say it created havoc with the cars behind swerving out the way and eventually getting run over by a Magna (lol).

If any of it touched my ute the guy would be wearing whatever was left of it up his ass. Dickhead. How fcuken hard is it to tie shit to a roofrack.

Motorcycles should be banned.

I witnessed a motorcyclist die after riding like a dickhead, he hit an amco barrier head 1st, needless to say there was not much of a head left. Im sick of seeing TAC adds saying watch out for motorcyclists.
F*** off, they should watch out for everyone else, thats easier. And stop darting between cars when that traffic is at a standstill. Why should we give a shit if someone on a bike comes off for riding like a moron.

If traffic is at a standstill what is the danger?

The kent that turned in front of me didnt watch for motorcyclists. If he had your attitude when he got out of the car he would have needed the ambulance more than me.

If you cant make an effort to see a motorbike rider when pulling into traffic then you shouldnt have a license to drive at all.

That one guy that saw isnt an indication of all motorbike riders.

Its not the traffic at a standstill that bothers me, its when its two lanes, travelling 60 - 80kph, and they come flying up the middle.

Dan, do you think that if you were in a car that it would of happened??
Bikes are dangerous, if you chose to ride one, thats your problem.

If I was in the mav his passenger would be dead. Whats your point?

Everyone has to share the road, accept that and pay attention or run the risk of killing someone's kid/brother/sister/mum etc.

Lane splitting at speed is dumb and illegal, unlike doing it in stationary traffic. If they do it at speed they deserve to be roadkill.

12 October 2008 (Double)-RIP Nathan. This was all over the news in our area. Nathan, a work colleagues son decided to drink and take her car for a joy ride killing himself and his mate after wrapping the car round a pole.
Silly mistake that has caused alot of misery for the family.

I woke up at 4:30 to go 4wding and the whole area's power was out and about 20 - 30 police/ambos/firetrucks/ses.

Maybee you need to witness a cockhead on a motorcycle doing a mono at about 100 then go head 1st into an amco barrier before you undertand how much I hate how you bike riders complain about not giving you a fair go.

lol do you always try and get your point across by telling someone to get fucked?

Maybe that is where you are going wrong?

I think the point you are trying to make is flawed. You saw 1 bike rider act like a dickhead and kill themselves so your point is that all motorbike riders are cockheads and people with other modes of transport dont act in the same way and kill themselves ever?

You are a genius, I cant understand why I didnt agree with you in the first place.

I like motorbikes and am always about this --> <-- far away from buying a Ducati but unfortunately most people in cars operate them at an extremely low skill level. Can't trust them to share the road with me unfortunately. It isn't all that surprising really if you think about how easy it is to get a car license.

And I didn't mean to put an E-curse on you Dan, from memory my post was more like 'Dan likes motorbikes because he hasn't had a crash yet"... :)

its a pretty generic statement to make honestly.

i've seen car drivers do stupid shit
i've seen truck drivers do stupid shit
i've seen bike riders do stupid shit.

the only difference is... if a truck fucks up... its everyone in its way that cops it.
atleast on a bike, its their life.

IMO; EVERYONE should ride motor bikes
imagine how sweet the traffic & parking would be.

My houesmate has a TLR1000 and an R1.....I live with the temptation to get a bike every freakin' day....but I know I'll do fken dumb shit so I don't let myself get one :|

I find that in general, motorbike riders are 'better' than car drivers, weither they are riding a bike or driving a car. On a bike you are 'out there' you can see, hear and smell more, and you need to keep your shit attentive because if you don't, someone will accidentally kill you.

That carries over to cars - when they drive cars they LOOK at what is going on and take steps to compensate for other idiots.

The failing they have is because bikes are so damn fast+ nimble, the temptation is there to USE that acceleration, and it doesn't always end well :(

I reckon they should change the licensing rules: Get learners, go to a 100cc scooter for 6 months after passing driving test, then do 6 months in a car, then onto red P's.

Would help people learn to use their brains when they drive I would hope...but I suspect you just can't fix stupid, and all that would happen is lots of people would die.
