do v8 manual conversions excist for e series!!

Postby CHEETR » August 18th, 2009, 10:56 pm

im getting pissed off now, ive been looking for 2months straight for a manual conversion and nothing..

im looked everywhere..
tradingpost
fordmods
eseries
fordforums
streetfords
ebay

and not even one has popped up? whats the go , was there not many v8 manual e series made or something? when i built the ss ute i found it a little hard to find one but atleast i found a few, 2months trying ford the ford v8 t5 and not even one?

someone on here must know someone who has one, even if the box is stuffed i dont care ill get it fixed.. i can't stand the auto, the box itself is great but i hate auto in general..

ill get a slab for someone who can find me a e series v8 manual conversion working or stuffed i dont care

Profits John. Profits!!!

How much is different? Is it just the box?

Maybe you can get a 6 cyl conversion then swap out the bellhousing and input shaft or something using bits from Mal wood?

bellhousing definitely different,

there are other differences with bearings etc inside from the bits karl showed me that were pulled out of his when it was rebuilt (this is the box john has)

Slap a T5 out of a 6 cyl straight onto the v8 bell housing no worries. Didnt make sense to me but now it does.

Banarcus on AFF has an EA I6 T5 behind his windsor.

From memory it was a dellow bellhousing and he had the 4.0 input shaft modified to suit the V8.

The T5 I have is out of an EA. I had the input shaft modified to suit the V8 bellhousing. The bellhousing and flywheel are aftermarket as is the clutch. Served me well now for 3 years and hasn't failed me yet. There were plenty of "experts" that said it couldn't be done before I had it done. They've been quiet ever since.

Don't know how long an EA T5 will last behind a 200kW windsor though.

I asked malwood about swapping I6/V8 input shafts a while back, they said they need to be cut then welded to use the 6cyl box with the V8. Sounds a bit dodgy to me, but i'd still do it :P

I'd think there would be a shaft length difference and also a spline count difference. If you had a custom made flywheel this might work (to take 6cyl clutch and to move the actual location of the clutch assembly futher forwards or backwards in relation to the bellhousing?)

Keep looking, you'll get one. I looked for four months and then came across this:

ImageImage

EL XR8 T5, bellhousing, clutch, flywheel and release fork, never been in a car. Bloke had it in his shed for four years for his son's project that never happened. Got the lot for $1750. They're out there. Thing is the bits you'll need to fit it up. My list looks like this:

Gear box
Bellhousing
Clutch
Flywheel and bolts
Release fork
Thrust bearing
Spigot bearing
Rear main seal
Clutch cable
Little clip that holds clutch cable into bellhousing
Dust cover for thrust bearing fork
Mal Wood clutch pedal pin
Clutch pedal
Little metal dohicky, two plastic bushes and R clip that attaches clutch cable to pedal
Brake pedal (cause I didn't to mess around cutting the auto pedal down)
Brake and clutch pedal pads
Trannmission tunnel boot
Console boot
Billet Products shifter
Hurst lever and knob
J3 chip
etc. I think I've still got to do something about my reversing lights, neutral switch...?

Good luck with it.

Edit: Lol, check For Sale, one just came up. http://www.boostedfalcon.net/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11154 Doesn't say if it's for an eight tho.
