Hey Tood? Welcome.
Your car looks nice. if you have a hunt around in the 'in the build' section, you will soon see how different spring heights look. Go Super Lows if you want a low look with a little tyre tuck and reasonable dravability over speed bumps. Super-super (ultra) lows for lots of tyre tuck and the inability to go over speed bumps easily.
As far as exhaust - extractors, hi-flow cat and lose a muffler or 2. Again, theres heaps of info on this site, so have a hunt and see what you come up with.

thanks brenton... yeah i think ill go for unltra lows, any idea what price range id be looking at for them? ive been told that taking out the muffler in the tail pipe will make it drone or something like that haha, do you think it'd sound alright with out it? at this stage i wont be getting extractors unless i can find some cheaper ones/second hand what size hi-flow cat would you suggest?

well there's a pair of ultras in the for sale thread for $80. That'd cover the rear springs.
basically, you should do all springs and shock at once and you'll want a front camber kit so that you don't scrub the insides.
Cost depends on new / second hand and of course the brand. add to that DIY or professionally done.

Range from $0 - cut springs to multiple thousands for koni or blisten or equivelant. mine cost about $800 for new pro done SL, back some 4-5 years ago.

Oh, also, forgot to mention - de-spoliering your boot will leave holes, so either just swap out the boot with a non spoliered equal, or be prepared for welding and re-spraying.

Taking a muffler out will probably create a drone, but there are a few things that can be done - hotdogs, hi-flow mufflers etc. and cat size? 2.5"? i think that's how it works. If you have a 2.5 exhaust, get a 2.5 cat? just a hi-flow model. Someone please correct me if i'm wrong.

so any brand of 2.5inch hi flow cat would be alright?

ive heard you can get these rubber grubs that you can just screw in to the holes in the boot, so i was thinking about getting some of them, i wouldnt think that theyd stand out to much, considering they would be fairly small holes, so unless your looking real close you wouldnt know theyre there.

ive just noticed a set of ultra low king springs on ebay for $225(New), do shocks effect the ride height or are they just for smoother ride and handling. how much would a camber kit be, roughly, and do you think its needed, even though ive only got 16inch rims?

sorry i must sounds like a tool haha ive never modified a car before, only just put sound systems in haha

thanks for ya help

You cant make a N/A i6 sound nice :P
Having one muffler will get annoying pritty quick,Droning in your ear at 100km gets old pritty quick!
You could run a 3" cat on a 2.5 exhaust if you wanted to but a 2.5 cat should be fine.
If you put Ultras in your car make sure you get short shockers or your ride will turn into a kunt!

If you run stock shockers with ultra's in the rear it will just be bouncy and rough.
Short shockers should make it abit more smoother.
As for the exhaust,I guess you can just run one muffler and turn the cd player up when your on the highway lol.

haha yeah but i dont want to do that lol.
if i were to get extractors and high flow cat and keep my 2 mufflers, would you expect it to be loud under acceleration and have no drone ?

pretty much, (As far as i know) 1 muffler, 1 hot dog, extractors, bigger cam all together makes a nice sound and shouldnt drone. Also, you may wanna look at extending your bump stops if going SSL and maybe getting XR spec lower rear control arms as they have a cool little bit to avoid hitting the diff, although I'm not sure it's be neccesary.

As far as a camber kit. SSL will make your tyres sit like
// \\
adding a camber kit will correct that, returning them to
II II

Basically means more contact with the road and even tread wear, regardless of rim size. you should be able to get a new one installed and get change from about $200.

You'll save it in tyres in the long run, although it could come at a later point. It'll just be something to definately keep your eyes open for - a second hand kit.

yeah. wouldn't have a loud bark unless you're pretty high in the rev range though.

Ive just got 2.5 exhaust with 1 and 1. no hi-flow cat, no extractors. It's alright. definately has the angry bark about 3 grand an upwards, below that is a quiet rumble. a 6 cyl rumble, but a rumble none the less. lol

thanks wicksy

stav50... thanks for the advice, i might see how it goes with high flow and straight thru tailshaft and see how it goes

ok back to them springs, i been talking to people and they say you cant have ultra lows on the back and super lows on the front coz the els dont have independent rear suspension, is this true?

also was wondering, will the ride height even be legal with ultra lows considering i only got 16inch rims?

yeah i know! im kind of disapointed in how the super lows sit, but they should sag a bit apperently... im considering getting the xr body kit, which would make it appear lower.
also i might be getting some extractors soon :) depends if this bloke will sell them to me for the right price haha
