I was at a small HSV award dinner earlier in the year (cause I'm a sikkunt HSV 'specialist') and I was telling some sales manager from another dealership I thought the E2 looked like shit (tactfully...sort of...haha). Some guy further down the table that I knew I'd met before but couldn't place overheard me and asked me why I didn't like them.
I told him that I thought the front was a result of a bunch of blokes in a room with one saying "OK fellas, we need a new front end, which cars look good?", then some other blokes would have said "Bonnet vents like the XC Falcons" "Sick LEDs like Audi has" "Heaps of driving/fog lights" etc, and then instead of picking a theme they just put them all on together and the result was far less than the sum of its parts, and that I much preferred the cleaner more 'elegant' (well, less shit anyway) look of the VZ HSVs. Also mentioned that the lack of rear vision in the Maloo is a proper joke.
Turns out he was the General Manager of HSV, and sitting beside him listening intently was the HSV Product Planner. My bad
Just BTW this whole HSV 'E-Series' business pisses me off too. They are a fucken VE.
V you bastards!!! Now it makes US look tryhard whenever we call our cars 'E-series'.
SLOLS1 - I'd go a VZ over a VE anyday, archaic IRS design notwithstanding.
BRB, going to take my medication or have a cold shower or something
