You snapped an input shaft on a ZF? How often do people do that?

Not that often that I've heard but once you start playing with big hp then yeah, you play you pay.

needfordspeed wrote:Very often with a bit of power, pretty much the weak link of the box when pushing em.

Exactly
bentls wrote:yeah first thing to go in a zf is often input shaft.. few mobs do stronger ones now tho i do believe... wouldnt have been a cheap exercise getting it rebuilt i would imagine?

What I did was got a 2nd hand box through a mate with 22k on it for $1600. The old box will now get a make over for when I break this one.

Rollin wrote:And here I was thinking they were bombproof. That sucks.

Bomb proof maybe....Stinkbomb proof?......nup
LOW_XR wrote:What power do you need to break an input shaft in a zf? :(

I had been invited into a comp where in was classic v plastic at Willowbank.....Hot day, multiple runs, latter that night it was like a roundabout no waiting at all every time I came up to the line I was warming the tyres up like in the photo....1 hour of that shit and a heap of heat soak and..... BANG.
On my last freakin run off the night too. :bye:

You play you pay.......LOL

At the start of this Winter just gone, I was a first timer at going to the drags....I did 2 PB's of 11.7.

The day I broke the input shaft I was getting low 12's and the humidity was at 70.

Towards the end of the night humidity came down a bit and I ran two 11.9's on street tyres.

Hehe...yeah the cars great.... its my daily drive, and I fvckin love it.

nstg8a wrote:im sure i have a pic or two of this at lakeside a month or three back..

Really?.....Fvckin whack 'em up mate,,,,(I mean my I have a look see please)

That may of been Fathers day at Lakeside, awesome day at the track.

Yes input shafts are more seemingly common with a ZF Tune. Hear about it a fair bit as of late.

Nizpro have billet input shafts but are like $2k!
