98 Xh II 4l. in the process of making it whistle so if anyones got the know on standard gearbox and diff and what it can handle it would be helpful.
focusing on around 7psi to start through T04B .70/ 1.32 ar. then standard xr6t intercooler top mounted. after its whistling upgrading internals to forged all around. anyone bought through spool imports? then wind up and see what she'll handle.

manual is generally pretty weak. (depends how you drive it) have been known to blow 3rd anywhere from 160kw to 300kw

autos there is guys making over 300 with stock box. (mines at 280 at the moment on a reasonably stock box. and gets thrashed)

Change your rear housing too mate, 1.32 is wayyy to big. 1.06 would be better.

Don't top mount your intercooler, it will serve no purpose. Cheap eBay front mounts go for $160 and will do a better job.

T5s are touch and go with anything more then stock IMO lol.

I got it all installed. On the 1st run melted boost control line and blew 15psi. gearbox and driveline were ok, clutch is def the weak spot and will be swapped in next week or two. pretty impressed actually with what the 190000k engine will handle. ive upped the oil grade in box and diff. After swapping diff oil lsd started working (turns out it is lsd lol), i dont think the previous owner ever did it. Looks all good no damage

fixed it now its running a nice evn 7psi but nut347 ur right about housing size im already looking for a new hot side. are you using a 1.06? when do you reach peak boost and how much boost do you run?

at the moment im starting to make boost at 2500-3000 with a hard hit at 4000rpm. I dont mind the late boost for fuel economy and drivability in the wet. but a bit more linear power would be nice. don't get me wrong smoking the wheels in 4th and 5th is fun.

stock diff can handle some decent power so leave that as is unles u wanna change ratios as for your gearbox rip the t5 out throw it in the bin chucka t56 tremic or a tko600 in and upgrade the clutch to sumthen decent or if an auto is your thing a btr will be good for 300rwks or u can use a c4 auto or a 2 speedpower glide or a turb400 use any of these options and say hello to reliable driveline in an e series :drinks2:

clutch definately needs to go. it'll just slip in you change in boost. taking it fairly easy at the moment. gave it a go against my mates stroked sr20 1600 datto running 22psi, kept up alright until clutch slip. obviously i wasn't goin to beat him he's 240kw n no weight. but was impressed with what the xh can do on 7psi.
looking at clutches how heavy can the t5 handle. ebay does excedy hd kits cheap varying from $300-$450. $450 is for paddle type race clutch.

You'll probably break the box with a 5 puck, but, that's what I've been running for a while now. Ideally you want something to cushion the gear changes (organic) so you don't load the case up, twist it, and pop 3rd.
