Ok, the engine was a bit crap, but they were powerful enough, they didn't use that much petrol, there plenty of space inside, available with power steering/air con/windows, they were RWD, available with 3 or 4 speed auto, 4 or 5 speed manual, sedan or wagon - and they certainly weren't the worst looking car of the 1980s.
Not having a go, btw, just curious as to why you think the Sigma is one of the worst cars ever made?

My parents had one back in the day, bought brand new, serviced at the right intervals ect. Was dead after 14 months.

Why did it die?
Again, not having a dig, I am genuinely interested in knowing why people think the Sigma is a bad car. Never owned one myself, but have driven plenty, I always thought they were ok.

And VL's the worst car?? Pfft. You mightnt like them but they clearly arent the worst car.

i wonder how im so one eyed, is it because i LOVE fords? i think we have forgot i said the taurus as well. the only thing it didnt suck at was is in the ride, i mean really it has to be the only car in the world which CANT look nice!!! oh crap wait for it .... and HOLDENS.....
Commando wrote:On what basis? Have you ever driven one? The RB30 is a super smooth engine, the VL is by far the most refined of all the VB-VL shape commodores. Ok, so the NA 6 is not very quick, and yes, there are plenty of idiots that own them that think they are. But that is true of a lot of cars. They are so ridiculously easy to turbo, and the 304 V8 was a very good engine.
I'm not saying you aren't allowed to dislike them, but there is no way you can argue that they are bad on technical grounds.

+1 for sigma's making awesome paddock bashers! Our neighbours had one, and whilst it wasn't quite as tough as our hilux, it certainly took a punishing and had way more balls! I wouldn't mind one of the "Redback" turbo sigma's either. There was a comparison in Zoom a few year back with an SR20, the Sigma turbo motor, and a YBD cosworth sierra motor. The Sigma motor went very very well considering it's age, it had equal perfomance to the SR20 on the same boost with an inlet restrictor choking it.

+1 for commodores being crappest cars on earth - some brands are crap, but everybody thinks it (like hyundai). Commos are crap but for some reason every motherfecker thinks they are gods gift to motoring.
Reverse park a VE then get back to me on how great they are.
