Make sure that both the rocker cover breathers are routed from rocker cover, into a catch can, then out of the can and into the intake BEFORE the turbo, preferably just behind the air filter.
If you leave the PCV setup as per factory it'll blow boost into the crankcase and pressurise it big time.

this is the best advice given in the entire thread, broken engine seems to be the catch phrase for people that know f#ck all.

People that know **** all?
I assumed that from what he said he has been driving around without a tune, if that's the case how long do you expect the motor to last? If he has a tune I'm probably wrong. I have had motors that have blown gaskets due to blowby caused by worn rings. In reality there shouldn't be very much pressure under the rocker cover.
When I had he same issue as you I used a catch can. It worked great till I started pushing more boost into it and the more boost I ran the more places started leaking. Eventually I got sick of fixing gaskets that would start leaking a week later, so I got a new motor, which was good untill it started lifting the head.
Edit: if you do a catch can I agree that a breather to the intake side of your turbo is a must, it will help uck pressure from the catch can and rocker cover and will stop the smell of oily blowby getting into the cabin

Also most people ask before using a little grey matter and starting a process of elimination, which in turn leads other people to come up with bigger solutions, when it is more than likely a simple one.
my engine has over 240kms on it and doesnt blow smoke or have a catch can at 20psi,but people drive things differently too.

Your breather setup has the PCV as per factory, and you run the rear vent to atmosphere, or to the intake of the turbo ?
Spiz wrote:Hey guys, I'm having the same problem with my mates ba xr6 turbo, It is always leaking from the back of the rocker. I think it has some blow by, as this was a common problem with early xr6 turbo's. the car runs extremely well, but it's not breathing properly. I'm wanting to setup a catch for it just for the time being till he organizes funds for a new motor. Can anyone put up some photos of there set ups and where you have the lines running to from the motor?? Be much appreciated
