Throttle Body is also facing the other way, wonder if swanny will buy one and claim heat soak in the plastic manifold when at the drags!

Yeah they've mentioned the different manifold when talking about the XR6T a fair bit.
first photo i've seen of it.
it almost looks like an engineering evaluation part or something.

I wonder how much it will cost to replace when it splits from gas backfire.

This was what I was thinking.

I think you will find they will have gas injection, with a vent on the manifold that will open in the event of a backfire. A bit like what they have done on the 5.4L 3v F150 and F350s

The XR6T gets shorter pipe work compared with the BA/F and has a more 'normal' FMIC with inlet on the drivers side and outlet on the pass side, thats got to be better for the throttle responce!

GT's get a twin throttle body!

Yeah the TB faces the other way - one reason in particular was shorter piping like Nikk said. The manifold itself is not normal plastic (I know Ford Oz is stupid, but not that stupid... Then again...). It's a plastic/composite material so it's not that likely to break like the shitty stuff found on earlier models.

You're right, its a nylon/glass type composite. Can't remember exactly but it's just normal airbox plastic.

It's still essentially plastic then. Even if it's strong it'd split at the seams and sht under a heavy backfire.

I think the new falcon might have a water intercooler, because there was a box on top of the engine that was leading from the turbo into the intake manifold and it said intercooler on it. was on a picture i saw, if i find it i will post it up.

It has shorter and longer piping. The longer path is used until a valve flap closes it off and directs air to the shorter path at 3750rpm for better throttle response. The flap then turns to close off the shorter path and direct air back to the longer paths at 5500.

i posted about this intake in the other thread! pretty good i reckon. major weight saving, and its not going to crack as it's a composite plastic. many other cars have been using plastic intakes for years.

i still cant get over how many refinements they made to an engine theyre binning in 2 years.

Frost wrote:I thought the E-Gas models were injected LPG this time around, I sware my mates BF2 RTV is injected LPG - EGAS green head

BF2 E-Gas != injected. my old man has one. Practically the same kit ford's been using since the EL Tickford dual-fuel option, ECU controlled fuel stepper solenoid, mixer ring in the intake, complex convertor, spring clips on the airbox.

nfi about the FG tho, there's really been no mention of the base models in the launch.

Keep in mind its the same plastic that is used on most radiator supports these days (FG gets a bolt in plastic support aswell), it's fairly tough. But i guess it still has a chance.

the ribs on the out side is a good idea though. i showed a mate who rallys and he said they gut the inside of manifold to improve breathing hence the power and efficiency ratings. it also mentioned they are now putting higher quality internals...YAY 8-)

How is using a mixing ring injected gas? Injected gas uses Injectors.

Whats wrong with the drive by wire stuff. ATM i would prefer it, cause its better than my throttle cable that sticks (closed) so its no problem, but fucking annoying every now and then.
I don't know what world you're from. Those Mazda 3 MPS', move along very fucking well, and being Mazda, they'll last for donkey's year, have good resale, and they look good.
