Postby ed4ltr » June 28th, 2008, 3:05 pm

Thanks Guys.
I'm looking for things I can do to it(considering the new P laws)
For performance I'll abide by 'some' of the new laws but so far im thinking full exhaust(extractors, cat, cat back an maybe ba xr8 twin tip?), New diff gears,Cold air intake...Anyone got any other ideas? I'm trying to keep it to mods that you cant really see as soon as you open the bonnot, although you will see the extractors.
I just really want more power.
Also any ideas for the Interior/Exterior? So far im thinking either BF GT-P 19's(not the ones with the slot at the top), or the BF TYPHOON rims(the black ones with the chrome outline),Front lip,Ba/Bf manual gear surround,light/medium tinted tail lights(think it would suit the garnish/black car)

Thanks Mate..
if it wasnt for these shit as new P laws it would already be boosted.
But yeah either thinking of keeping it while on my P's(well i am for the 4 years anyway) but either buying another daily sometime an keepin this an boosting it,or driving it for the duration of my P's then boosting it.Still deciding.

Keep the GT rims and spend some money elsewhere, Black E-Series + Gold GT rims look like sex!

A GT gear boot and an AU Black leather gear nob will pick up the interior, as for the exterior a sprint lip is all it needs...oh, those Au repeaters a backwards!

Thanks guys
yeah im thinking of towards keeping the GT's, 17's r easier to replace and plus i think 19's would make me look like 'more' of a hoon  .
as for the repeaters i cant change them around cos whoever had it before cut the holes too big, and the gt boot is something im after,as for the knob ive got a chrome one thats similar to the momo style ba xr ones... and the lip is something i'll do if i can find one around..

right now im kinda looking for the most perfomance i can get out of it without it being so noticable by the cops,so any ideas are appreciated

depending on the cam u get, it will give the car a bit more oomph accelleration wise.

P.S: XR6's have a different cam from the standard falcons and fairmonts but it would only be a significant difference nowadays. But since u got the Ticky ECU being an XR6 your car would be ready for it.

Different cams give different timing for the intake and exhaust valves opening & closing, the rate at which they open/close, the duration for which they are open/closed, the total amount of lift for each (how much they open to), and how much overlap there is between the intake and exhaust valves being open at the same time.

If you want something with good mid-range all-rounder power, there'll be a few cams to suit you here. If you want something with a lumpy as fark idle, there'll be other cams to suit. If you want something to suit a custom turbo setup, LPG, nitrous, etc etc etc, there's all kinds out there.

Figure out what you want from your car/how you want it to behave. Then a) do some research on finding the right cam profile for your needs, and/or b) contact performance businesses who specialise in camshafts (ie wade, crow, etc), tell them what you're after, and they'll recommend particular camshafts to suit your needs.

Crow Cams and Wade Cams make a heap of off the shelf cams for the E-series 6. They list most profiles on their websites.

Well a quick update;

I've officially been a P plater for the last few weeks so now the mods are starting.
First of all I've put a Lukey 2.5" cat back on which i got of stokiEF,the extra power from that alone is amazing, but considering my muffler had a hole in it and was also collapsed im not suprised, just need to get the location of the tip fixed up once i get back from Bathurst,Also purchased a set of Genie extractors off him aswell, they will once again be going on after Bathurst.New o2 sensor also going on.
I Have a Ba xr manual gear boot surround waiting to go in.
The car goes into the panel beaters later today to get a dent punched out and the bumper resprayed, also going to get her cut and polished when thats done!

Not much other than that, also the car is just about ready for a cam :P

Cheers guys

haha, yeah be carefull what you do to the rear! mines all professionally lowered(or so i was told when i bought it) but its a tad too soft, so when i have a full car load the tailshaft actually hits the bottom of the car over bumps, thats one reason im thankful for these passenger restrictions!
so now i have to get the tailshaft rebalananced and what not and also put something a little stiffer in the rear
