Postby glenneaux » May 24th, 2009, 11:58 am

New car,

1994 JZA80 Supra with the renowned 2JZGTE and Getrag 6speed.

Image

Only mods are the turbo back exhaust, pod, bov.

Oh also found a Blitz ECU under the carpet (think flash tuned ba ECU), only problem is its not tunable.

Car goes pretty good according to the Seat-o-the-pants meter, itching to dyno it and put it down the quarter.

Image

TRD Gauge setup. Apparently people dont commonly put the trd water/fuel gauge in and i've seen them for sale as a group buy for like $700. crazy.

Anyway, 320km/h .. real man's speedo!

This thing rips balls for a near stocker. I want one.

Have you found out how much boost the computer is making it run?

I dont believe the Blitz ECU has a boost control function, they just come pre-loaded with a more aggressive tune. Simple plug'n'play units.

There made redundant once you get a tuneable ECU (stand alone or piggyback) anyway.

Love the 2JZ's :good:

Well... I'm not sure what diameter exhaust/dump pipe its got, but due to the shitty wastegate in the factory setup if you put in a big dump it'll overboost and hit the fuel cut.

As said these things dont control the boost like the turbo falcons, thast why no-one with a falcon runs a boost controller :P

but anyway, with the free flowing exhaust it will be boosting a bit higher, and i'm not hitting the fuel cut. As far as i know this ecu does have a more agressive tune and will tolerate more boost and will also be tuned for it.

having said all of this, no I havent hooked a gauge upto it yet.. haha

Yeah it's not bad, few things that I need to tidy up.. but seems ok and goes alright ;)

Feels good at high speed (on the track) compared to a falcon too! Going around corners is fun as well :P

There are Supra's in the US doing 8 second 1/4's on totally stock V160/V161's (cody phillips and ryan woon). They're fuckoff expensive though, an unknown condition box is upwards from $3500. A second hand one in "working" condition runs at $5k+. Even partial rebuilds are expensive as hell too, and only one place in Melbourne will touch them (from what we found).

Yeah, from what I know, the supra boxes, diffs, and cv's are unbreakable unless you're on the strip with grippy slicks.

I dont think theres anything better to swap them out for, and from what i know they end up in all teh falcons and commodores...

You can get a converted one, or convert one :P You can get a non turbo in manual/aero :P

I've heard that driving them is like driving plate of jelly :P Apparently if you jack it up from a corner with the roof off the other 3 wheels stay on the ground.

Basically stay away from them unless its got a roll cage haha
