Dan, the HSV 6 litre is different to the Holden 6.0 (apparently anyway, they look identical to me....) so I'm not sure if a wrecker motor is really an option here.

Crate motor ftw.

Yeah fair enough if you didn't see it due to the rain, I was more talking about people who do it on purpose (I watched a BMW X5 die a watery death in 2009 - it was following a pajero, the pajero pulled over to do a u-turn to avoid the water but the X5 guy drove around him, massive bow wave then glug glug glug....tow truck time)

yeah man i saw some video's on youtube and people are driving strait through it. as said, if id know bout the water i wouldnt of gone through it

My understanding was always that if the car is unregistered it's only covered in your driveway. If driving withOut rego car is not covered.

Good luck with it man. It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't even check. I had trouble with an insurance claim 5 years ago and it's surprising what they do and don't check. Police reports included lol.

HSV 6lt = LS2, then they upgraded to LS3 which is what Dylan should do :P

Holden 6lt = L98 for manual, L76 DOD for auto - current model is L77.

They shoulda stock with the 253 IMO

If you're pulling them apart and putting them back together you'd need to have them side by side to tell the difference it's so little.

Even the W427 motor looks the same (except for the sump, obviously).

I wouldn't worry about it. Unless your really unlucky insurance will cover it.

I'd be hoping that they would write it off tho. Get to go again with something different/better and who knows what the water got into and fucked.

as the car is under insured (market value) i dont want it to write off

im pretty sure it was only motor that copped the water as the bay was mostly dry after i hit the water.

Best of luck with it mate, fingers crossed.

For interest's sake, Holmart have new engines on special currently. There are a few on eBay too.

Can someone please tell me what the **** a 'TQ' is please? I'd assume it's a unit of measurement similar to a Nm or an Lb/Ft but I'm stuffed if google can help me with this one. How can you have "1100 TQ" ?????

'Torque' is twisting force, not a unit of measurement. You can have torque, or no torque. Yes or no, on or off. No possibility for anything else.

You want to give a torque measurement you need to give a unit of measurement such as a Newton-metre (Nm) or a Pounds-per-Foot (LB/Ft).

It's impossible to have 1100 'torques'.

ok rollin, lets just use our assumptuous brains of ours..

lets start with some facts

nelson racing engines are an american based company

americans are ignorant

thus they are talking lbs/ft of torque because there cant be any other units of measurements because if america doesn't use them as their standard unit of choice then they are no longer considered useful to americans so why would any americans ever use nm to measure torque....

shit spelling shit grammar and shit bloke typing... but i thought it was funny... so eat a dick
