NC Fairlane / DC LTD(1991 - 1995)
The basic Fairlane was hard to pick from the previous NA model, it had new alloy wheels. The Fairlane Ghia had distinctive alloy wheels and clear front indicators. The DC LTD had clear front indicators and body-coloured side strips.
After less than a year, the cars were updated with Series II. Anti-lock brakes were introduced and they were standard on every model. As with the EB Falcon, the 3.9L was replaced by a quieter 4.0L, which produced 148kW of power and 348Nm of torque. There were upgraded sound systems and all cars got new lounge-style front seats. Tickford Vehicle Engineering was established, so Fairlane buyers could opt for Tickford Touring Suspension, five spoke 16 inch alloy wheels, Michelin tyres and a Momo steering wheel, to give their car a sporting feel.
In early 1993, all cars got the new Smartlock security system with Tibbe locks and an immobiliser, and then a lap sash rear seatbelt became standard. In August 1993, the Fairlane was discontinued; it was back to one model - the Fairlane Ghia.
Fairlane was further improved in March 1994, when it gained a leather bound steering wheel, new design alloy wheels and a bonnet ornament.

Where to now?     Back to Fairlane/LTD main     On to NF Fairlane / DF LTD»

1991 was the year that V8s returned to Ford. The DC LTD came with the fuel injected 5L V8, which managed 165kW, while the 3.9L six remained standard on the NC Fairlane.
Just like years gone by, there were now two Fairlane models to choose from: Fairlane and Fairlane Ghia.
