Ford this
week announced the pricing of its new XR8. The manual version will be
$50,130, $6165 more than the XR6T. Hundreds of orders for the car have
already been taken, and after long waiting times expericenced by XR6
buyers, BA production was increased to 500 cars a day, up from 410.

A
Ford spokesman, Andrew Ellis, said "The waiting lists have been building
since before Christmas, but that should begin to fall now." The success
of the XR6 Turbo isn't expected to hurt XR8 sales, and the XR8 shouldn't
slow demand for the Turbo. "There is a large market of people who
are only interested in the V8," said Ellis. "But I admit it
will be interesting to see if the XR8 sales will impact on XR6 Turbo sales."
972 XR6s were sold in December, Ford's best month for XR Falcon sales.
468 of these were Turbos. |
