Rob McKay, whose AU Falcon Forte is featured in Your Falcons, has had a small rust problem with the car, where the boot opening gas strut secures onto the quarter panel. The rust happens because sufficient paint can't be applied, due to the angle of this section. It is a frequent problem with the AU (at least Series I).
Rob's factory warranty had run out, but there is a five year Ford warranty on corrosion. He sent an e-mail to Ford expressing his concerns and now his Series I AU Falcon is getting the rust taken out at their expense (Series III Falcon SR courtesy car thrown in). Rob says: "I have got absolute praise for the way Ford has honoured this warranty and my factory warranty at the time (3 years from date of first registration)."
